Most questions have a quick answer here. Can't find yours? A person reads every message.

Downloads & files

  • Where to find and re-download your pattern

Your patterns are always in My patterns — sign in with the email you used at checkout and you can download them again, any time, as often as you like.

  • I didn't get my email

Emails usually arrive within a minute. Check your spam, junk or promotions folder, and make sure the address you entered was spelled correctly.

Stitching your pattern

  • Which file should I use?

Print the 'pattern' PDF in your paper size (US Letter or A4). Use the 'app' PDF for chart-tracking apps, and the OXS file for chart software.

  • Printing tips

Print the PDF that matches your paper (US Letter or A4) at 100% / actual size. The black-and-white chart pages save colored ink.

  • Using your pattern in stitching apps

Use the 'app' PDF with PDF-based chart apps and the OXS file with apps that open OXS. The print PDF has two copies of the chart, which confuses some apps.

  • How to read your chart

Each square is one cross stitch; the symbol tells you which DMC thread to use (see the thread key). Bold lines mark every 10 stitches and the arrows point to the center, where most stitchers start.

  • Threads, skeins and substitutes

Every pattern uses DMC six-strand embroidery floss. The shopping list shows how many skeins of each color to buy for your fabric, including 20% extra.

Making a pattern

  • Changing the size, colors or style after you buy

For 30 days after buying, you can regenerate your pattern for free with a different size, colors, style, name or border from My patterns. Your original stays available too.

  • Which photo works best?

A sharp, well-lit close-up where your pet's face fills most of the frame works best. Daylight from a window beats flash, and a simple background charts more cleanly.

  • How the AI styles work

The optional AI styles use an image AI model to clean up or redraw your photo before we chart it. Your photo is processed only for your request and is never used to train AI.

  • Choosing a size and fabric

Pattern size is set in stitches; the finished size depends on your fabric. 14-count Aida is the most common: 110 stitches ≈ 8 inches. Higher counts give smaller, finer pieces.

Orders, refunds & gifts

  • Money-back guarantee and refunds

If you don't love your pattern, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying from My patterns. You can also regenerate it for free for 30 days first.

  • How gift cards work

A gift card covers 1 or 3 custom patterns. The recipient redeems the code at hoopandpaw.com/redeem and uses their own pet photo. Codes never expire.

  • Refer a friend

Share your personal link from My patterns: your friend gets 15% off and you get a free pattern credit when they buy.

  • Payments, currencies and invoices

Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller (Merchant of Record), who also sends your receipt and handles sales tax/VAT. You can pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

  • Can I sell what I stitch?

Patterns are for personal use: stitch as many times as you like and give the finished pieces as gifts. Please don't share or resell the pattern files.

Account & privacy

  • Your photos and your data

Photos are private, stripped of location data and deleted after 30 days. You can download or delete all your data any time from My patterns.

  • Signing in (no passwords)

There are no passwords: enter your email and tap the link we send. Links work once and expire after 30 minutes — just request a new one if yours has expired.
